Wole Soyinka Sets to Bless the New Generation with a Surprise Package.

Nigeria’s first and only Noble Laureate, prof. Wole Soyinka is all set to bless the current generation with a novel in almost 50 years. The veteran dramatist, poet, essayist, and political activist has only written  two carrier novels, ‘ The Interpreter’ and ‘ Season of Anomy’ in 1965,and 1972 respectively.

The poet is said to have judiciously used the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown to prepare a literally piece titled ‘ Chronicle of the Happiest People on Earth’, which will be out before the end of this year and a follow up of international publication in 2021.

Soyinka is known for his consistent societal consciousness through his literally work across all genres, and the news of a pending novel will surely have his readers salivating in anticipation.

In a foot note the activist said, :“This novel has got everything – friendship and betrayal; faith and treachery; hope and cynicism; murder, mayhem and no shortage of drama, all set against the backdrop of contemporary Nigeria,” said the publisher. “As you would expect from a Soyinka work, it’s got plenty of colourful characters, profound insights, witty commentary, and the most elegant language.”
