Four persons killed as suspected herdsmen attack Benue community

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom have on Saturday revealed that suspected herdsmen killed four persons at Tse-Angbande, Makurdi, the State Capital, on Friday night.

Ortom made this known at Tse-Angbande, as he visited the village for an on-the-spot assessment of the impact of the attack which also resulted in seven other persons being injured.

While giving further details about the attack, the governor said at about 11 pm on Friday, the attackers had caused the death of the head and some members of the Akwa family – Innocent Akwa, Mr Emberga Akwa, Terhemba Akwa and an in-law identified as Orban.

Condemning the act, Ortom recalled a similar incident which happened a few weeks ago, when herders found their way into the community at Tse-Tyohemba without cattle and killed a husband and wife in the same axis of Makurdi.

The governor also added that, security operatives are doing their best to mitigate the new pattern of attacks on the people.
