The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has paid an advocacy visit to the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesa land, Oba (Dr) Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III.
The visit was spearheaded by Dr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), with the aim of strengthening grassroots participation in the electoral process.
The aim is to leverage the traditional powers to boost enrolment of eligible voters.
While speaking during the meeting, REC Agboke called on eligible voters in Ijesa land who are not yet registered to engage, while promising a seamless and inclusive exercise.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier revealed that a total of 1,379,342 Nigerians completed the online pre-registration process in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
The exercise, which was conducted from August 18 to 24, 2025, saw Osun State emerge with the highest number of pre-registrations, recording 393,269 registrants, which is approximately 28.51 percent.
